Introduction
This Privacy Policy explains what Jobproof Docs does with your information. It is short, because Jobproof Docs does almost nothing with it.
On Android you can verify the central claim yourself. The app does not declare the INTERNET permission in its manifest, which means the operating system will not let it open a network connection at all.
What Jobproof Docs stores
Everything in this table lives in the app's own private storage on your device.

Dictated speech is deliberately absent from that list. Audio is transcribed as you talk and is never written to disk, so what the app stores is the sentence you would have typed and nothing else.
There is no identifier for you as a person anywhere in that list. The app does not create an account number, a device identifier or an advertising identifier, because it has nothing to attach one to.
Where it is stored
All of it is inside the app's private container, which no other app on the device can read.
On iPhone and iPad
- Jobs, checks and settings are held in a local database in the app's storage.
- Photographs are written to the app's Application Support directory and marked as excluded from iCloud backup. This is deliberate: photographs of a client's property should not be copied onto a backup server as a side effect of owning an iPhone.
- Finished reports are written to the Caches directory, which iOS is free to clear when storage runs low. A report you still need should be shared or saved elsewhere.
On Android
- Everything sits in the app's private storage.
- Android's own backup is left enabled, so jobs and photographs may be included in a device backup to your Google account if you have that turned on. If you would rather they were not, turn app backup off for Jobproof Docs in your device settings.
Permissions the app asks for

That is the whole list, and every one of them is asked for at the moment you first use the feature rather than on the day you install the app.
Choosing an existing picture uses the system photo picker, which runs outside the app. It hands back only the image you selected, so the app never receives access to your photo library and never asks for it.
Jobproof Docs does not request contacts, calendar, files, background location, or the ability to run in the background at all.
Location, and why nothing is looked up
Pressing "use my location" asks the operating system for one position, then stops.
- The coordinate is written to the job on this device and printed on the report next to the address you typed.
- It is never geocoded. Turning a latitude into "14 Bridge Street" is a request to Apple or Google, and this app makes no requests, so the street address stays whatever you wrote.
- There are no map tiles in the app for the same reason. The map button hands the coordinate to your phone's own Maps app, which is a handover rather than a lookup.
- Nothing runs in the background. The app cannot ask where you are unless you are looking at it and you press the button.
Dictation, and why it never leaves the phone
Speaking a note is the one feature where the ordinary way to build it would have broken the promise on the front page, so it is built the awkward way instead.
- On iPhone and iPad the recogniser is created with requiresOnDeviceRecognition set to true. With that false, Apple streams your audio to their servers.
- On Android the app uses the on device recogniser only. The ordinary createSpeechRecognizer hands audio to a service that uploads it, and that service holds its own internet permission, so it would work perfectly from inside an app that has none. We do not call it.
- The practical cost is that dictation needs Android 13 or later and a device whose manufacturer shipped the offline model. On anything else the microphone button is simply not there.
We would rather be missing a button on some phones than be wrong about a sentence on this website.
What Mertscript receives
Nothing, unless you write to us.
- No analytics, no usage statistics, no feature flags, no remote configuration.
- No crash reports. If the app crashes, we do not find out unless you tell us.
- No content of any kind. Photographs, notes and reports never reach us.
If you email support at help@mertscript.com we receive your email address and whatever you choose to put in the message, and we keep it only as long as it takes to answer you. Please do not send us a client's photographs or report unless it is genuinely necessary to solve the problem.
Your purchase is handled by Apple or by Google. They tell us aggregate sales figures. They do not tell us who you are.
Sharing a report
When you tap share, the operating system's own share sheet opens and you choose where the PDF goes. Email, a messaging app, a cloud drive, a printer, anywhere.
At that point the file leaves the app and the receiving service's terms and privacy policy apply to it, not ours. That step is you acting, deliberately, and Jobproof Docs does not do it on your behalf or in the background.
Photographs of other people
Jobproof Docs does not detect faces, index people or do anything at all with the contents of an image beyond resizing it for the report.
That said, a camera on a working site can capture people who did not expect to be photographed. Keeping those photographs lawful is your responsibility as the person operating the camera, and if you are photographing in a home or a workplace it is worth knowing where you stand before you press the button.
Children
Jobproof Docs is a tool for trade and property professionals. It is not directed at children, collects nothing from anybody, and holds no age related information.
Your rights under UK and EU data protection law
Data protection law gives you rights over personal data that an organisation holds about you: access, correction, erasure, portability and objection.
Mertscript holds no personal data about you from your use of this app, so there is nothing for us to hand over, correct or erase. The rights are real; they simply have no object here.
You can exercise the practical equivalent of erasure at any time by deleting a job inside the app, or by deleting the app entirely.
Changes to this policy
If this policy changes in a way that matters, the change will appear here and the date at the top of the page will move. A change that widened what the app collects would also require a new version of the app, reviewed by Apple or Google before it reached you.
