Bugs, questions, feature requests, or a report that came out wrong in an interesting way. All of it is welcome.
Please include your device, your iOS or Android version, and the app version from Settings, then About. Do not send us a client's photographs or report unless it is genuinely needed to solve the problem.
Common questions
Where are my jobs and photographs stored?
On your device, inside the app's private storage. There is no account and no server copy. No other app can read them, and neither can we.
I lost my phone. Can you get my reports back?
No, and we want to be straight about why. There is no copy anywhere except the device. On iPhone and iPad the photographs are deliberately excluded from iCloud backup so that a client's property is never sitting on a backup server.
The habit that solves this is sharing the finished PDF the day you produce it, to email or a drive you control. A report that has been shared once is a report you still have.
The camera does nothing when I tap it.
Almost always the camera permission was declined the first time it was asked for. Open your device settings, find Jobproof Docs, and turn the camera back on.
On the iOS simulator there is no camera at all. Use the photo library instead.
Why does the app never ask for photo library access?
Because it does not need it. Choosing an existing picture opens the system photo picker, which runs outside the app and hands back only the image you selected. Asking for the whole library would be asking for more than the job requires.
My finished report has disappeared from the app.
On iPhone and iPad, produced reports live in a cache directory that the operating system is allowed to clear when storage runs low. The job itself, with every check and every photograph, is untouched, so you can produce the report again in one tap.
Can I put my own logo and company details on the report?
Yes, in Settings. Name, address, phone, email, registration number and a logo. They appear at the top of every report you produce from then on.
How many checklists come with it?
Thirty five, across everyday work, electrical, plumbing and heating, building fabric, interiors and finishing, exterior and grounds, property and lettings, and safety and compliance.
They are deliberately short. A forty item list that nobody finishes is worse than a twelve item one that gets completed on site, and anything missing can be added on the job in two taps.
Can I edit the ones you ship, or only my own?
Any of them. Editing one of ours quietly makes it yours, which is the only arrangement where a future update cannot argue with you about the wording of a list you have changed.
A checklist you delete stays deleted. Updates add new lists without touching or resurrecting anything.
Can I build my own checklist?
Yes. Add sections, add lines, reorder them, delete what does not apply, and start any job from it. Editing a job's checklist does not change the list it came from, and a job's list can be saved back as a reusable one in two taps.
Does the location button need an internet connection?
No. It reads one satellite fix from the phone and stops. Nothing is looked up, so there is no street name attached to it, only a latitude and longitude with the accuracy printed beside them.
The map button on a job hands that coordinate to your phone's own Maps app. That is a handover rather than a lookup, and the app never sees a result come back.
Is my voice recording uploaded when I dictate a note?
No. Speech is turned into text by the phone itself and the audio is never written to disk or sent anywhere. On iPhone the recogniser is set to on device only; on Android the app uses the on device recogniser and nothing else.
There is no microphone button on my Android phone.
Then that device has no offline speech recogniser. Dictation needs Android 13 or later and a manufacturer who shipped the on device model.
The ordinary Android recogniser would work on any phone, but it hands your audio to a service that uploads it, and that would make this website wrong. We would rather be missing a button.
Can I stop a report going out with items unchecked?
That is the default. A job with unchecked items will not issue a report until you either finish it or deliberately turn that guard off in Settings. It exists because the failure this app is built to prevent is a report signed while half of it is unread.
What does swiping a line do?
Right passes it, left fails it. The verdict fires when you let go rather than when you cross the line, so a swipe can be abandoned by sliding back.
Tapping the badge still cycles through pass, fail and not applicable. There is also "pass the rest" on each section heading, and a button that clears everything still blank on the job. Both of those only ever fill in blanks: they cannot overwrite a fail you already recorded.
I am going back to a property I did last month.
Open the new job sheet and tap that job under "back to a site". The client, the address and the checklist come across; the verdicts, notes and photographs do not, because the second visit is a new set of findings.
Does it work with no signal?
Entirely. The app has no network code in it at all, so signal is irrelevant to everything it does. On Android it does not even hold the INTERNET permission.
A4 or US Letter?
Both. The app guesses once from your device's region and then obeys whatever you set in Settings.
Is there a subscription?
No. You pay once. There is no account to keep alive and no server to pay for, so there is nothing to charge you monthly for.
Can two people work on the same job?
Not today. Everything is on one device, because that is what lets the app promise that nothing leaves it. Shared jobs would need a server, and a server would need a different set of promises.
How do I get a refund?
Through the store you bought it from, since only they can process it. Apple handles refunds at reportaproblem.apple.com and Google through the Play Store.
