RecTrack App

Privacy Policy

Last updated: 5 August 2026  ·  Effective immediately

01

Introduction

This Privacy Policy explains what RecTrack does with your information. It is short, because RecTrack does very little with it.

The short version: RecTrack has no accounts, no servers and no analytics. Your receipts, photos and budgets are stored on your device and nowhere else. Mertscript never receives them, and cannot recover them for you.

On Android you can verify this yourself: the app does not request the INTERNET permission, so it is not technically capable of sending your data anywhere. On iOS it makes no network requests of any kind.

02

Information We Collect

None. There is no account to create and no server to send anything to. The table below lists everything RecTrack holds and where it lives.

We do not collect your email address, your name, your location, your contacts, your advertising identifier, or any device identifier. We do not know how many times you have opened the app, or whether you have opened it at all.

03

Receipt Photos & On-Device Reading

When you scan a receipt, the text is recognised by software built into your operating system — Apple's Vision framework on iOS, Google's ML Kit on Android. This runs entirely on your device's own processor, offline, with no request to Apple, Google or Mertscript.

RecTrack then interprets that text on the device to fill in the merchant, total, tax, date and line items. Every field is editable, because automatic reading is never perfect.

Photos never leave your device. They are written to app-private storage and excluded from cloud backup where the platform allows it. There is no upload code in the app and no server that could receive them.

The raw recognised text is discarded once the fields are filled in, unless you switch on Keep scan text in Settings → Privacy. When that is on, the text is kept in the local database on your device so you can see exactly what the recogniser read. It is still never transmitted.

Receipt photos can contain sensitive details such as partial card numbers or addresses. They stay on your device, so the main risk is the device itself — use a passcode, and use Data & Storage to delete anything you would rather not keep.
04

Your Purchase

RecTrack is bought once from the App Store or Google Play. There is no subscription, no in-app purchase, and nothing that renews.

Payment is handled entirely by Apple or Google under their own terms and privacy policies. Mertscript never sees your card details, your billing address, or your name. We receive no report of who bought the app.

05

Analytics & Crash Reporting

There are none. RecTrack contains no analytics SDK, no crash reporting service, no advertising framework and no tracking of any kind. No third-party code in the app sends data anywhere.

This means we genuinely cannot see how the app is used, which features matter, or what crashed. If something goes wrong, please tell us at help@mertscript.com — that really is our only way of finding out.

06

Data Sharing

We have nothing to share. We hold no data about you, so there is nothing to sell, rent, trade, or hand to anybody — including in response to a legal demand.

Your data is not used to train machine-learning models, by us or by anyone else. The text recognition built into iOS and Android runs locally and does not send your receipts to Apple or Google.

07

Data Retention & Your Control

Your data stays on your device until you remove it. Because we hold no copy, you are in complete control — and equally, we cannot restore anything for you.

There is no backup. If you lose or reset your device, or delete the app, the data goes with it. Export regularly from the Reports screen (CSV or JSON) if your receipts matter to you.
08

Data Security

RecTrack stores everything in app-private storage, which the operating system keeps isolated from other apps. Receipt photos are excluded from cloud backup where the platform allows it, so a photo of your receipt does not ride along into an iCloud or Google backup.

Because nothing is transmitted, there is no connection to intercept and no server of ours to breach. The security of your data is therefore the security of your device: use a passcode or biometric lock, and keep your operating system up to date.

09

Your Rights

Data protection law gives you rights over personal data a company holds about you. Mertscript holds none, so there is nothing for us to disclose, correct, delete or transfer — and no request you need to make to exercise those rights.

If you believe this policy misdescribes what the app does, please write to help@mertscript.com. In the UK or EEA you may also complain to your data protection authority.

10

Children's Privacy

RecTrack is not directed at children and is not intended for anyone under 13 (or under 16 where local law sets that age).

We could not knowingly collect a child's personal information even if we wanted to, because the app collects nothing from anyone.

11

Policy Updates

If the app ever changes in a way that affects this policy — for example if an optional sync feature were added — this page will be updated before that version ships, and the change will be explained in the app.

Any feature that transmitted data would be off by default and would ask for your consent first. We would not switch it on for you.
