Terms of Service

These Terms of Service form a binding agreement between you and Mertscript covering the RecTrack application. By downloading, purchasing or using RecTrack you accept them. If you do not accept them, please do not use the app.

Our Privacy Policy is part of this agreement.

RecTrack is intended for people aged 13 and above (16 where local law sets that age). By using the app you confirm you meet that requirement and are old enough to form a binding contract where you live.

There is no account, so there is nothing for us to suspend or terminate. Age requirements are a condition of the licence granted below.

RecTrack is a paid application. You pay once, at download, through the App Store or Google Play.

The price shown by your store is the price in your local currency and includes any taxes that store collects. Your purchase is tied to the store account that made it, so reinstalling or moving to a new device restores it at no further cost.

Refunds are handled by the store, not by us. We cannot issue, review or reverse a refund. Apple: reportaproblem.apple.com. Google: your Play Store order history. Statutory rights of withdrawal, where they apply to you, are unaffected.

On purchase we grant you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable licence to install and use RecTrack on any device you own or control that the rules of your store permit. This is a licence, not a sale of the software; Mertscript retains all rights in the app.

You agree not to:

• copy, resell, rent, sublicense or redistribute the app;
• reverse engineer, decompile or disassemble it, except where law expressly permits;
• remove or obscure any proprietary notice;
• use the app to store unlawful content, or in breach of any law that applies to you.

RecTrack has no account and no server. Everything you create — receipts, photos, categories, notes and budgets — is written to your device and nowhere else.

Your receipts remain yours. Mertscript claims no ownership of them, receives no licence over them, and does not use them for advertising or to train machine-learning models.

RecTrack recognises text on your device and interprets it to fill in merchant, amount, tax, date and line items. Receipts are printed inconsistently, fade, crumple and photograph badly.

Keep your original receipts wherever the law requires you to. A photograph in this app is not a substitute for a document you are obliged to retain.

RecTrack is an expense record-keeping tool. It is not a financial advisory, accounting or tax preparation service. Nothing in the app — dashboards, analytics, budgets, insights or reports — constitutes financial, tax, or legal advice.

Amounts are stored and displayed in the currency associated with each receipt. RecTrack does not convert between currencies and makes no representation about exchange rates or cross-currency comparisons.

Exported data is provided as-is for your personal reference. You are solely responsible for verifying its accuracy before submitting it to any tax authority, accounting system, employer or other party.

RecTrack runs entirely on your device, so it does not depend on us being online, or indeed on us existing. An app you have installed keeps working.

We may add, change or withdraw features in future versions. We will not remove the offline-first design or introduce a subscription for functionality you have already paid for.

Except where law forbids it, the app is provided “as is” and “as available”, without warranty of any kind, express, implied or statutory, including any implied warranty of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy, or non-infringement.

Mertscript does not warrant that the app will be uninterrupted or error-free, that extraction will be accurate or complete, or that data stored on your device will survive loss, damage or reset of that device.

Some jurisdictions do not allow the exclusion of implied warranties, so parts of this section may not apply to you. Nothing here limits rights you have as a consumer that cannot be limited by agreement.

To the fullest extent permitted by law, Mertscript will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages, or for any loss of profits, revenue, goodwill or data, arising out of or relating to your use of or inability to use the app, even if advised of the possibility.

Mertscript's total aggregate liability is limited to the greater of the amount you actually paid for RecTrack, or ten United States dollars.

Nothing in this agreement excludes or limits liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, for fraud, or for anything else that cannot lawfully be excluded.

These terms are governed by the laws of [governing law jurisdiction], without regard to conflict-of-laws rules, and the courts of [courts jurisdiction] have exclusive jurisdiction.

If you are a consumer, this does not deprive you of the protection of mandatory law in your country of residence, or of your right to bring proceedings there. Before starting formal proceedings, please write to help@mertscript.com — most problems are faster to fix directly.

Where you obtained RecTrack from the Apple App Store, the following applies and prevails over anything inconsistent above:

• This agreement is between you and Mertscript only, not Apple. Mertscript alone is responsible for the app and its content.
• Your licence is as described in Apple's standard Licensed Application End User License Agreement, as varied above, limited to Apple-branded devices you own or control.
• Apple has no obligation to provide maintenance or support.
• If the app fails to conform to any applicable warranty, you may notify Apple and Apple will refund the purchase price. To the maximum extent permitted by law, Apple has no other warranty obligation.
• Mertscript, not Apple, is responsible for addressing claims relating to the app, including product liability, legal compliance, and consumer protection or privacy claims.
• Mertscript, not Apple, is responsible for the investigation, defence, settlement and discharge of any third-party intellectual property infringement claim.
• You confirm you are not located in a country subject to a U.S. Government embargo or designated a “terrorist supporting” country, and are not on any U.S. Government list of prohibited or restricted parties.
• Apple and its subsidiaries are third-party beneficiaries of this agreement and have the right to enforce it against you.

Where you obtained RecTrack from Google Play, this agreement is between you and Mertscript only, not Google. Google is not responsible for the app, its content, or any support for it, and your use is also subject to the Google Play Terms of Service.

We may update these terms. Material changes will be announced in the app or on this page at least 14 days before they take effect, and continuing to use the app after that date means you accept them.

Your existing purchase is never affected. A change to these terms will never require you to pay again.
